Pre-departure: ACI can help you prepare your students for their trip. Click here for a copy of our free pre-departure handbook.

Arrival: We arrange to meet students outside the baggage claim, escort them safely from the airport to a private bus, and drive them to a group residence where they will spend their first few days. ACI can also arrange transportation for departures.

Security Briefing: Living in Dakar requires all the precautions reserved for large capital cities. Students learn about areas to avoid at night, how to recognize a con artist, how to avoid pickpockets, and what procedures to follow in case of an emergency.

Medical Briefing: Students meet ACI’s recommended physician to review how they can stay safe and healthy during their stay and what steps to take if they need medical attention.

HIV Reminder: ACI’s health department staff, experienced in conducting trainings on HIV/AIDS prevention, lead a participatory session with the students. Through the use of simulations and films, students are reminded about the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, and the need for vigilance and avoiding risks.

Neighborhood and Downtown Sorties: Experiential discovery and orientation in the neighborhoods surrounding ACI's Baobab Center, and the vibrant urban center of downtown Dakar, followed by debriefing sessions.

In-Country Tours: We can arrange package tours to destinations within Senegal for study and for pleasure. Destinations include the islands of the Sine-Saloum Delta, and Saint-Louis, among others. ACI manages all the logistics of transportation, hotels, meals, excursions and entertainment, and provides an experienced staff member as a guide and manager.

Security and Medical Response System: ACI maintains a standard emergency response plan to take quick action in the event that the health or safety of your students is at risk.
